Agrolab Dictionary

On this page, you will find a dictionary of words and abbreviations often used by employees at Agrolab and the agrochemical industry in general.

GEP

GEP stands for "Good Experimental Practice". It is a form of practice used to perform certain types of field trials.

GLP

GLP is an abbreviation of "Good Laboratory practice". It is an accredditation given and a practice used to perform certain types of field trials. 

R&D

Stands for "Research & Development". At Agrolab we have an R&D department that explores ways to continuously develop and innovate new ways to conduct and support field trials, e.g. Drone Imaging.

CRO

CRO stands for "Contract Research Organization" and is a term for a company, like Agrolab, that supports science industries with outsourced services on a contract basis.

PPP

PPP stands for "Plant Protection Products". PPPs are herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and Plant Growth Regulators.

EU North Zone

When registering PPPs we often work in zonal registrations. The EU North Zone consist of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Agrolab covers the entire zone with field stations and collaborators.

SDS

SDS stands for Safety Data Sheet. It's a document that provides comprehensive information about the hazards of a chemical substance or mixture, including its properties, handling procedures, storage guidelines, and emergency measures.

Data gap

A data gap refers to missing or insufficient information required to support the registration or renewal of a product, such as a pesticide or biostimulant. Regulatory authorities may request additional studies or documentation to fill these gaps before approval can proceed

GAP

Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) outlines the safe and effective use of plant protection products, including approved application rates, timing, number of applications, and pre-harvest intervals. It ensures that products are used in a way that minimizes risk to consumers, operators, and the environment while achieving desired efficacy.
